JACK: Happy to report that former member MIKE MASON was named Rotarian of the Year by his Rotary Club, Well done Mike and well deserved I am sure. If ever you’re in our area on a Wednesday you’ll have to speak at our club and hopefully some of your energy for Rotary will rub off on us.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

RUSS: Bingo Revenues are up per session again. New schedules are ready and some of the times have been reduced making it even better. Check your e-mail for more info.

WAYNE: To try to breathe some life back into our club, he is reintroducing the POD system. Not sure what that means, DMAC got all excited, he thought it meant Pleasure On Demand. Wayne has decided to take over the month of January to get speakers and programs for the meetings to make them more like Rotary meetings. Russ joined his POD. Tina and D Mac will take Feb. and Randy said he will take March. Lets hope that this will stimulate the rest of the members and we can get back to more Rotary like meetings and still have fun. Wed. the 29th will be a dinner meeting and Club Assembly.

He also gave us a preview of his talk on his trip to Tanzania,  He had some photos and teased us will some info; we are all looking forward to when he and Terry come with their presentation.

JACK: We only have 33 people coming to the Christmas Auction. That is still not enough to be truly successful. I still haven’t heard from some members or former members, so if you are coming please let me know as soon as you can. We will be having a steak dinner, so we have to let Spot One know. There is no meeting next week so you have to e-mail me and I can let them know. Please. ASAP RSVP PDQ

PROGRAM:

GORD from the Salvation Army spoke to us early because he had another event he had to be at, this is a busy time for them. He spoke briefly on 3 words, Faith, Hope, and Charity. That’s what keeps them going. They have been doing Community Service in Brampton for over 130 years. They have helped over 1500 families to date this year, and are now helping 125 families a day. He thanked us for helping them relieve the hunger in our community. Dannie presented him with a cheque for $1500 from our club.

CATHERINE from Ste. Louise Outreach, who quite often works with the Salvation Army, brought us up to date with what they are doing. They have been helping the needy in Brampton for over 32 years. They help feed 2100 families a month, and they will be helping 2600 families over the Christmas Season. They not only have a food bank, but also help with house hold items, new and used. They help people in life saving situations, teen moms, etc. They have cooking classes, teaching life skills, how to get a job, etc. They have outgrown their present location and are looking to move to a bigger and better location. They can’t move now because they are overstocked with Christmas needs. We volunteered to help with their new building and presented her with a cheque for $1500.
