GUESTS:

D G MIKE GAUTIER, who is today’s guest speaker.

P D G SYD HARMON, from the Heart Lake Club and D G area Rep.

P D G TERRY PALMAY, former member and welcome anytime guest.

P D G RAY GIBSON, actually a member, but thought it great to have all those DG’s with us today in one room.

HAPPY BUCKS:

WAYNE: All the dictionaries are done, 25 schools, over 1,436 English and 163 French dictionaries have been given out.

MARTIN: Happy to be here, and thanks to Dannie for picking him up and bringing him.

TINA: Christmas Show at the Rose went well, she had a time.

DANNIE: Crazy world, one minute you are in Cuba, walking along the beach with a drink in one hand and your wife in the other and then 2 ½ hours later you’re shoveling snow in Bolton trying to get into your driveway.

RAY: The real art of conversation is not only to say the right thing at the right time, but also to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment.

RUSS: When I’m feeling down, I like to whistle. It makes the neighbor’s dog run to the end of his chain and gag himself.

JACK: Doing the Grand Parent thing, he and Pauline took their youngest granddaughter to a Concert at Mayfield High School Saturday Night. She wasn’t in it, but some of her friends were and she wanted to support them. Long story short, it was a great show. Over 250 dancers, (It was the dance program, not drama that she is taking, or vocal that her sister took,) It was like a professional performance, great music, costumes and dance. Way to go Mayfield  School of  The Performing Arts.

“Don’t forget the Christmas Auction Saturday December 28th. We would love to have every member there with guests. Anyone reading this bullaton is more than welcome and they can bring guests too, all funds raised go to the Rotary Foundation and we have a great time doing it, but it ain’t no fun without lots of people and stuff to auction off. So please come and make it a success for David Harvey’s sake, our brand new auctioneer.”

PROGRAM:

P D G SYD introduced District Governor Mike Gautier, from the Palgrave Rotary Club. He brought us our banner for this year’s Rotary Theme which is “ ENGAGE ROTARY, CHANGE LIVES. He brought us to date on Rotary in the District, and around the world, we touched on the Polio Program and the Disaster in the Philippines. He also touched on the decline of members in North America, but not so much the rest of the world. There are over 1.2 million Rotarians in the world same at 10 years ago, but a decline in N.A.

Our District is holding steady at 1,785, not much change in the last 10 years. He reminded us that Cluster Meeting are very helpful to get and retain members, and ours have been very helpful, so don’t forget that we have one on May 6th, put it in your calendars now.
