GUESTS:

SALLY ANN, MARTIN’S much better half, and RANDY’S mom.

JOHN TYNER from the Brampton Club doing his first ever makeup at our club.

HARRY AND BARRY from the Georgetown Club, our speakers today.

HAPPY BUCKS:

JERRY, He happy to be here after missing so many meetings.

MARTIN, just found out that the people won, the little guys beat the giants. The huge Mega Quarry has been stopped. All that land north of Orangeville will be saved and used for farmland instead of a huge gravel pit. Long fight but the side of good won out.

D MAC: 10 days ago he felt light headed, (Just ten days ago?) and had to leave a show. A few days later he went for tests and they found nothing. He is Okay.

NORBERT: Not a happy buck, He asked us think of his dad who is in the hospital and not doing too well.

** (Unfortunately Mr. Bajcar passed away this morning (Friday) in hospital. No details or arrangements have been made at this time. I will keep everyone informed.)**

BARRY: Just happy to be here and visit another club. Lots of fun.

HARRY: Really enjoying the hospitality he’s receiving here.

NORBERT: Forgot to mention the Lion’s Club Craft Show is this weekend in Huttonville and he will be showing some of the work done by NORBERT AUGUSTINE.

JEREMY: Happy to see visitor John here today and everyone else too I guess.

SHANTA: Happy to get rid of her pocket full of change. (I won’t say anything.)

RANDY:  Did an Irving, bought a Motor home, drove it south and went on a cruise. Tam loved it, had a great time being trailer trash.

RUSS: There was a bit of confusion at Canadian Tire this morning. When he was ready to pay for his purchase of gun powder and bullets the cashier said, “Strip down, facing me.” So he did as she had instructed. When the hysterical shrieking and alarms finally subsided, he found out that she was referring to his credit card. He has been asked to shop elsewhere in the future. They need to make their instructions to us seniors a little clearer.

THE DRAW:

Won by guest John Tyner.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

RANDY: 50\50 This Sunday. We need sellers please be there or get someone for you.

The District is running a Seminar on Saturday morning 8:30 – 1:00 for training on getting matching grants for Rotary Projects. He needs someone from our club to go if we ever want to get a matching grant. Call him or Jeremy if you can go.

JACK: Thought it would be a great idea and the Rotary thing to do, if Randy or Russ where to get in touch with the Rotary Club in North Bay and offer our help to set up the 50/50 draws next year for the North Bay Battalion. I think that Mike Griffin and the Battalion would like to be involved and we did do a good job with community relations. Randy thought it was a great idea and he said he will follow up with the idea.

IRVING: Christmas Ham time again. We have lost our biggest seller, (Terry Palmay where are you, do you need any hams, please.) Last year we had 150 but this year we may only get 75. Let Irving know by e-mail right away as he wants to order them soon.

PRESIDENT JEREMY: Read a note from the Toronto Foundation, they raised $17,500 on the dance we help support, way to go SHANTA and her crew. He is planning a Poker Tournament for Sat. February 23, 2013, Start thinking about it now and mention it to you friends; the more people there the more money we raise.

GUESTS SPEAKERS>

HARRY HOPE AND BARRY TINLECK from the Georgetown Rotary Club spoke to us and showed a presentation on a project in Tanzania. Like our Wayne Wood who a few years ago went on a wheelchair presentation in Mexico to find the need to build washrooms for a school, These guys went to Africa for an Aids project and found the need to build a school. It is called Educating Maasai preschoolers in Tanzania in partnership with other Canadians. Rotary here and in Sauti Moja. www.sautimoja.org/LECHE.html

In Oct. 2011, 24 members and family of Rotary Clubs in Cambridge, Georgetown and Guelph visited Longido District, Northern Tanzania to learn about the lives of Maasai people, as well as monitor use of funds that they previously provided for Sauti Moja’s HIV/AIDS Prevention and care Program. A school they visited was made of mud and got washed away by the November rains. Rotary is raising $25,000 to help them build a new school. Rotarians will visit them in October 2013 to help complete this project. If you would like to go and help contact Mike Thomas at mthomas@noesis.com to find out all the details, cost etc.
