Special meeting set up for us at the Habitat Building Site on Torbram Rd, where they are building an eighteen home project. It consist of, I think, 5 town house complexes.

Dave McGregor set it up along with Thomas Fischer for our club to have lunch and a tour of the build site. It was sunny and cold, but very interesting. We had a great lunch, in a hut, not a tent as was previous mentioned, and it had a real old wood stove to keep us warm. We all  had to wear hard hats, to protect us from smashing our heads on the beams in the hut. One of the people there, took our picture and said it would be tweeted, skyped, facebooked, or some new type of posting? And we should all be able to see it somewhere.

There where only 5 members from the club, President Ray, D Mac, Jack, Wayne and Norbert. Ray’s Son Glenn, and Wayne’s son Christopher and Norbert’s wife Liz, made our total 8 representing the Rotary Club.

They thanked us for our work we have done for them and the donations we have made and asked us if we could tell our friends that they are looking for volunteers to help with the build, and in any other way people can help. If you know of anyone looking to help contact them. It would be a great way for a young person looking to get into the construction field to be hands on and get valuable experience and help at the same time. For the younger students, 15-18 they also need volunteers help at the ReStore Locations.

There is no charge for people who just want to help and it is a great way to get experience and to learn some construction tricks, I know I did it once and learned a lot. It was fun too.

RAY mentioned that it was 50 years ago, Feb. 19/ 1965 that our club official started, so it was kind of appropriate that we had lunch in a hut, with an old wood stove, in the snow, just like when he started the club all those years ago.
